At SBS, we are one of the largest providers of retrofit residential energy efficiency and decarbonisation works, delivering at scale across the UK, including through our regional base in West Yorkshire. We have developed excellent working relationships with leading social housing providers in the region such as Together Housing Group, Incommunities and Horton Housing which has seen hundreds of homes per year benefiting from energy efficiency and low carbon heat measures installed to MCS / PAS 2030 and PAS 2035 standards.

We take immense pride in engaging with residents in all aspects of the project, receiving excellent feedback and hearing first-hand how pleased they are with the results and the benefits provided. The local community and supply chain also see positive benefits with the various social value initiatives and investment into the local communities we run as part of our projects, which also includes local employment and apprentice opportunities.

As a purpose-led business, our work goes beyond decarbonisation to make real and positive impacts on people’s lives – improving their health, comfort, well-being and living conditions and helping reduce fuel poverty and address issues faced with damp and mould.

We look to maximise our positive impact by delivering mixed-tenure, blended funded projects on an area-based approach to social and privately-owned homes. This year we launched our consumer-facing brand, Home Hero, into Calderdale allowing homeowners and private landlords/residents the opportunity to install energy efficiency and renewable measures to their homes. We help bridge the gap between grants, savings, and the cost of green home improvements so nobody is left behind and a true area-based approach to decarbonisation can be achieved.

Our owner and chairman, Derek Horrocks, said: “We are thrilled to be playing a key role in Mayor Tracy Brabin’s ambitions to hit net zero by 2038. We are delighted to be part of The West Yorkshire Strategic Climate and Environment Partnership which complements and expands upon our existing decarbonisation efforts already in the West Yorkshire region. With a shared vision and ethos to becoming ‘greener, quicker’ by delivering decarbonisation at scale, we are excited to collaborate with strategic partners to accelerate this transition.

We have already developed relationships with the other Strategic Partners to take a truly collaborative approach to drive forward and enable the scale-up required in meeting the regions’ objectives, this also includes our diversification into commercial and public sector decarbonisation.”
