We’re proud to announce that in this year’s Unlock Net Zero Awards we’ve been shortlisted for a hat trick of categories: Skills and Training Award, Organisation of the Year and Project of the Year – Midlands and Wales, in partnership with Rykneld Homes on behalf of North East Derbyshire District Council (NEDDC).
The Unlock Net Zero Awards celebrate and champion individual and organisational contributions to a carbon-free future for the UK housing sector and we are honoured to be recognised among them for the second year in a row, following last year’s successful hat trick of wins.
Our shortlisting in the Skills and Training category underscores our dedication to nurturing talent and fostering professional growth within our team. We believe that investing in our people is fundamental to delivering high quality services and achieving our mission of alleviating fuel poverty, improving health and wellbeing, and enhancing living conditions through retrofit efforts.
Being shortlisted for the Organisation of the Year award recognises our approach of technical excellence and putting the customer at the front and centre of everything we do, celebrating our outstanding work and how we collaborate closely with our clients and partnerships within the industry. All of which produce outstanding impacts for the communities we work in.
The nomination for Project of the Year, in partnership with Rykneld Homes, reflects the commitment to collaborative efforts that bring tangible benefits to communities. Our projects aim to support government bodies, local authorities, registered social housing providers, private landlords and individual households in pursuing low and net zero ambitions.
Our Owner and Chair, Derek Horrocks, expressed his pride in this achievement: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for this year’s Unlock Net Zero Awards in all three categories we entered. These shortlisting’s are a fantastic endorsement of what our teams have achieved over the past year.
“I am particularly pleased with the recognition for our work in the skills and training category. Training and development is at the core of SBS’ delivery model, supporting employees to thrive in their roles and to produce high-quality, compliant work – and feel confident in their skills.”
The Awards ceremony will take place at Housing 2025 in June, where we look forward to celebrating the continued success of our industry together with our peers.
