It’s National Apprenticeship Week this week, so we’re shining a spotlight on the versatility of apprenticeships and how we’re playing our part in upskilling tomorrow’s pool of workers to be the best generation yet.
Across SBS, we embody an ethos of improving through action, especially so when it comes to our people. Our brilliant apprentices currently make up 12% of our workforce, sitting in roles across the whole business including chartered management, quantity surveyors, assistant site managers, HR, and financial assistants.
But we’re not stopping here – by 2026, we’re aiming for apprentices to make up 15% of our people, even with our ambitious overall growth plans.
Our managing director Gary Lawson said: “We are leading the way in the retrofit decarbonisation industry and therefore have a responsibility to make sure the future of our sector is in safe, highly trained hands.
“Our apprenticeships span critical departments, injecting fresh talent and laying the foundation for future industry leaders. Not only that, but they also cover business departments that help us keep moving forwards. We owe it to ourselves, and the hard-earned progress we have achieved together to provide those that will take our work into the future with the tools and knowledge to do so.”
