We’re proud to announce that in this year’s Unlock Net Zero Awards we’ve been shortlisted for a hat trick of categories, along with two category shortlists to boot with Construction News’ Contractor of the Year and our chair Derek Horrocks being in the running for Construction Leader of the Year.
The Unlock Net Zero categories include the Supply Chain Partner of the Year Award celebrating and recognising our outstanding work and partnerships within the industry. Alongside this, the brilliant work we’ve been doing with Rykneld Homes in the delivery of a £22m SHDF part-funded multi-measure decarbonisation scheme for North East Derbyshire District Council has caught the judges’ eyes.
This project saw almost 600 homes receive a multitude of upgrades to improve their energy efficiency and EPC ratings.
The success of this project, among our other projects and operations championing the drive toward decarbonising the UK’s housing stock have been recognised by Unlock Net Zero for their ambition and excellence.
Additionally, these sentiments are echoed by the Construction News Awards. Here, we’ve been shortlisted for Contractor of the Year, which celebrates brilliance in projects and delivery, as well as innovation and quality of work. It also recognises our forward-looking outlook within the industry, and the leadership from Derek in the shortlist for Construction Leader of the Year.
Derek’s ongoing dedication to transforming lives for the better through retrofit decarbonisation at scale, not only includes his leadership here at Sustainable Building Services (UK) Ltd, but other various director roles. These include founding the National Home Decarbonisation Group (NHDG), his involvement within the National Insulation Association (NIA) and work as a key mediator between the energy industry and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.
On the shortlists, Derek said: “Year upon year, SBS has been able to take on more and more work to address the lack of retrofit decarbonisation in the UK’s housing stock. This is testament to our core value that high quality delivery and a people-centred approach is the best way to move forward. To be recognised by industry-leading organisations like Unlock Net Zero and Construction News is an incredibly achievement for us, our focus remains on the tangible and very real difference we’re able to make in communities and for families – that drives our purpose.
“Our planning pipeline for 2024 is already larger than ever, and I’m looking forward to maintaining and even further pushing this momentum.”
Both awards ceremonies will take place over the summer, where we look forward to celebrating the continued success of our industry together with our peers.
