The government has announced which projects have been successful in their bid for support from the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund Wave 3 and Warm Homes: Local Grant, which is set to make a substantial difference across communities and the construction sector.

Our owner and chair of the National Home Decarbonisation Group, Derek Horrocks said: “The latest funding announcement from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) by the Labour government through the Warm Homes Plan is another big step forward in the mission to establish warmer, healthier, and more affordable-to-heat homes for social housing residents, homeowners and private renters in England.

“We’re very pleased to see that our existing clients have secured the funding they require with a minimum of a 3-year surety to encourage the transition to clean heat. We can’t underestimate the impact that energy efficiency schemes have, with this funding especially important as it often impacts the lives of the most vulnerable in society who are living in social housing or privately owned homes.

“We know that both the need and demand exists for home energy improvements, with bids in both funds significantly over-subscribed. This means it’s imperative that the wider retrofit sector works successfully in partnership with local authorities and housing providers to deliver schemes that achieve their aims and improve 170,000 households as the Warm Homes Plan targets.

“It’s not just those involved in retrofit decarbonisation delivery that understand the impact our work has on individuals, families and communities. Those who have benefitted from home improvements from previous funding rounds or similar funded schemes have an acute understanding of the difference they have felt through lived experience – and that’s exactly what we want more people to feel. The government’s latest announcement means more lives will be improved and the home decarbonisation mission can continue – it’s a time for optimism and excitement.

“The government has committed to more than £1.75bn in retrofit funding between 2025 and 2028 under both schemes, with additional matched funding under SHF meaning the schemes will deliver over £3bn of improvements in the period. Not only is the funding helpful in supporting successful providers, but it also builds on the success of previous energy efficiency programmes and helps retrofit contractors like us by providing continued reassurance which will filter down the supply chain. The funding is hugely important for the sector, helping to safeguard jobs in the growing green economy while increasing investment in training and skills development – which will strengthen the workforce needed for the UK’s transition to net zero.

“Billions of pounds worth of funding has already been used effectively in making homes more energy efficient. Based on our experience supporting clients with their government-funded schemes, between £1m and £25m+, there is evidence that delivery at scale is possible. We’ve seen first-hand the way that warm and healthy homes change lives, which provides us with inspiration and motivation in our mission to leave no one behind.”
