Demonstrating Derek’s standing as one of the retrofit sector’s most influential and experienced leaders, it was recently confirmed that our owner and chair Derek Horrocks has been chosen as a judge for the Unlock Net Zero Awards 2025.
The Unlock Net Zero Awards have grown significantly since their launch two years ago. This year, the awards will be bigger and better incorporating the Climate Champions’ Power List to create one grand evening of celebration for the sector – focusing on positive climate action from both an individual and organisational perspective.
At last year’s Unlock Net Zero Awards, we were proud to take home three awards. This included ‘Climate Champion of the Year – Public Sector’, which was claimed by Derek for his position as a respected industry leader in decarbonisation with a passion for improving the sustainability of UK homes, actively engaging with government and contributing his time to developing new standards and improvements in the sector.
Our other wins were ‘Supply Chain Partner of the Year’ and ‘Collaboration of the Year’, which were picked up as a result of our ongoing commitment to retrofit at scale, collaboration, supporting the wider supply chain and resident engagement, as well as putting people at the heart of projects from the start.
Derek said: “I’m absolutely delighted and honoured to be asked to be part of the Unlock Net Zero Awards 2025 judging panel. These awards are a terrific showcase for the sector’s work in delivering a successful and just net zero transition.
“I was humbled to be named as 2024 Climate Champion at last year’s awards and cannot wait to see the excellent entries this year demonstrating what fantastic work the sector is achieving!”
The full list of categories is available online here and all entries are free of charge – open until midnight on Friday 28 February 2025. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 24 June 2025, taking place as part of Housing 2025.
